The Importance Of Data Centers In The United States

Data centers have become hugely important in the United States, as there is now more data being generated every single second of the day than there ever has before in the history of the country – and the world. Storing more and more data on the cloud – as now more than eighty two percent of companies in the United States do – has increased the demand for well run and highly organized data centers. But data centers are certainly not infallible, and so the typical data center must take precautions and always be vigilant in order to avoid the disaster of a server crash.

Using the right server rack enclosures and server rack sizes is the first key step to having an up and running, fully functioning data center. A server room that isn’t overcrowded is less likely to overheat and subsequently crash, losing highly important information. This is also one of the benefits of cold aisle containment systems. The benefits of cold aisle containment systems have become well known across the world of data storage. Along with that of the hot aisle containment system, the benefits of cold aisle containment systems are typically held up as the gold standard of data storage in the United States. In fact, the benefits of cold aisle containment systems have become so well known that now four fifths (equal to eighty percent) of all data centers all throughout the country have either fully converted to hot or cold aisle containment or are making concrete plans to do so.

There has also been a push in the world of data centers to be more and more environmentally friendly. There’s no doubt about it that the typical data center generates an absolutely immense amount of power – enough to fully power and keep running nine small sized shopping malls no smaller than the typical size of a Walmart building. But all of this power can have a negative environmental impact if not dealt with correctly. Part of dealing with a data center simply involves keeping it updated to whatever the current green standards are. However, if a data center goes as many as seven years or more without an update to its system, it will officially be considered to be out of date in terms of green computing norms.

Switching to a more efficient air conditioning system (one of the benefits of cold aisle containment systems) can also be effective in reducing the environmental footprint that data centers all throughout the United States have been leaving. Improvements made to a data center’s air conditioning system can not only improve efficiency but drop the costs that are accrued from it by as much as thirty five percent. This is because a more efficient air conditioning system is using less energy, and thus leaving behind much less of a total carbon footprint. And sufficient air conditioning systems, along with the benefits of cold aisle containment systems, can prevent server malfunction as well. The fully functioning air conditioning unit will keep a server room at the right temperature and therefore drastically reduce the overall risk of overheating and the threat of lost data.

Data centers have become hugely important in the United States, there is no doubt about it. With more data being generated each and every second, data centers provide a safe place for it to be stored. But data centers must be sufficiently taken care of too, or risk losing much of the important data that they are charged with keeping safe and protected from harm or tampering.
